Historic Note:
Rudy's building, built in 1899, was originally the Offutt Store Building. At
that time they advertised as the "largest general merchandise store in Western
Maryland." Irvin R. Rudy bought the building and the store from Coffman-Fisher
in 1939. At that time the store became Rudy's and was later owned and
operated by his son, I. R. Rudy, Jr. and is presently owned by his grandson, I.
Robert (Bob) Rudy and his wife, Amy.
