Biking

The Oakland area is "bicycle friendly" and there are hundreds of miles of easy to moderate rolling terrain for the beginner to intermediate cyclists. More challenging routes are also available for the experienced rider.

Fly Fishing

Oakland is surrounded by fishing country. There are 320 miles of pristine streams that gurgle their way through some of the world's oldest mountains. In these waters, which pass through magnificent stands of oak and hemlock trees, swim the living jewels of brook, browns, rainbow and cutthroat trout -- the stuff of which fishermen dream. An additional 5,000 acres of pure mountain lakewater round out the Oakland area's offerings to both the novice and expert angler.
