Save The Oakland Railroad Station

The Oakland Railroad Station was built in 1884 and was one of the unique designs from Francis Baldwin. It provided a cornerstone for growth in Garrett County as the focal point for the growing forestry, coal and tourism industries.

The Save the Oakland Station Committee was formed in August of 1996 by the Greater Oakland Business Association. Their strong belief is that the Oakland Railroad station could once again provide a cornerstone for growth in Garrett County. Spurred on by the tireless efforts of Mayor Asa McCain, the committe managed to purchase the station and began work on returning it to the splendor of yesteryear. This once proud and busy station could use your help to once again become an integral part of our community. Come on by and visit and strive to hear the many excited voices calling to their arriving or departing loved ones ring in the empty rooms. Then read more below about how to help this beautiful building come back to life.
